Virtual Desktop Technical Capability and Delivery Service

The client is seeking expertise in providing specialist virtual desktop technical capability and delivery within our Workplace Virtualization team. This service will involve the design and integration of new and future technologies, as well as project and BAU support. The service will operate closely with other Workplace & Infrastructure technical, project, and product teams. We aim to deliver strategic direction and expand the company's Virtual Desktop infrastructure, with a strong focus on design and integration to support any future move to a true cloud-based service. The service will interface with an international Virtual Workplace team, consisting of over 50 virtual desktop experts managing more than 20 Citrix farms for over 30,000 users. We are looking for expertise that can significantly contribute to and assist with the delivery and maintenance of the Virtual Desktop roadmap, in conjunction with relevant Tech Specialists and architects.

Goals and deliverables

Contribute to the development of virtual desktop and application hosting offerings to support local and global requirements.

Develop business cases for the correct desktop platforms for local and global customers.

Ensure all project proposals align with the global strategy and are optimized for end users.

Provide guidance, support, and consultancy to Tech specialists within the team.

Maintain expertise by collaborating with other group operations teams and third parties to stay updated with internal strategy and vendor technologies.

Track technical debt and provide solutions to mitigate it.

Devise and deliver technical rollout timescales OTOBOS.

Ensure client project delivery is completed within project timelines.

Provide third-line support to SLA with appropriate knowledge sharing.

Identify and meet cost reduction targets within specified timescales.

Ensure timely and accurate reporting, with automation where possible.

Record evidence of consultancy to OpCo teams, including regular minuted meetings, joint action plans, and shared project proposals.

Maintain technical knowledge through course attendance, consultancy qualification maintenance, and attendance at vendor open days and product presentations.
