1. Service Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Tech Expert to drive the technical evolution and daily operations of our Power BI and Microsoft Fabric platform. This service is pivotal in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our analytics environment. The successful candidate will play a
critical role in managing capacity, implementing robust governance and security models, and providing technical leadership to the operations team. This role requires a strong blend of hands-on engineering skills and deep knowledge of Microsoft Fabric to empower data-driven decision-making and support our analytical transformation initiatives.

2. Role Summary:
We are looking for a Tech Expert to drive the technical evolution and daily operations of our Power BI and Microsoft Fabric platform. Reporting to the Service Owner, this role will lead the operations team and be directly responsible for capacity & performance management, as well as governance and security of our analytics environment. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on engineering skills with
deep knowledge of Microsoft Fabric.

3. Key Responsibilities:
  • Capacity & Performance Management (Primary Focus):
    • Proactively monitor capacity consumption (CUs – Capacity Units) and workspace health.
    • Use tools such as the Fabric Capacity Metrics, Chargeback, and FUAM app to detect bottlenecks, prevent throttling, and plan scaling needs.
    • Optimize dataset refresh, query performance, and data processing pipelines to maximize capacity usage.
  • Governance & Security:
    • Define and enforce governance standards for workspaces, naming conventions, lifecycle management, and ownership.
    • Implement and maintain robust security models, including Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS).
    • Ensure compliance with internal policies and audit requirements across all Fabric items and Power BI assets.
  • Technical Leadership of Operations Team:
    • Act as the main technical reference for the operations team, guiding best practices and troubleshooting complex issues.
    • Review solution designs, provide mentorship, and drive continuous improvement in reliability, observability, and automation.
  • Microsoft Fabric Architecture & Implementation:
    • Design, implement, and operate solutions using key Fabric items such as Lakehouse, EventStream, EventHouse, Dataflow Gen2, Alerts, and Snowflake Mirroring Database.
    • Align Fabric architecture with business requirements, data governance rules, and performance targets.
  • Data Integration:
    • Design and manage efficient integration patterns with Snowflake (including Snowflake Mirroring) as a primary data source.
    • Integrate additional data platforms from Gateways and external sources such as SharePoint and other enterprise systems, ensuring data quality and reliability.
4. Required Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Senior Developer or Tech Expert in Business Intelligence / Data Analytics environments.
  • Deep expertise in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric administration, including capacity management, monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with key Fabric items:
    • Lakehouse
    • EventStream
    • EventHouse
    • Dataflow Gen2
    • Alerts
    • Snowflake Mirroring Database
  • Practical experience integrating and optimizing data flows and semantic models.
  • Solid understanding of data security and governance concepts at tenant, workspace, and dataset level.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Senior Level - Power BI and Microsoft Fabric administration, including capacity management, monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Senior Level - Hands-on experience with key Fabric items: Lakehouse, EventStream, EventHouse, Dataflow Gen2, Alerts, Snowflake Mirroring Database.
  • Senior Level - Practical experience integrating and optimizing data flows and semantic models within a Microsoft Fabric ecosystem.
  • Senior Level - Solid understanding of data security and governance concepts at tenant, workspace, and dataset level, specifically within Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Senior Level - Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Senior Level - Fluency in English is mandatory
  • Senior Level - Strong self-management and problem-solving skills, particularly in troubleshooting complex issues related to Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Mid-Level - PowerBI (DAX, models, scale, RLS, etc)
  • Minimum 4 years of of hands-on experience as a data engineer or in a similar role, preferably in a multinational, fast-paced environment
